General Description:

People in this job are responsible for the maintenance, installation, and configuration of all computer hardware and software in a company. They provide support to employees, troubleshoot issues, and solve problems. They work with end-users of software and systems to provide technical support and assistance for their software, hardware, or technical problems including connection, slow performance, inability to access data, or inefficient programs. They walk users through software installation and launch newly installed programs for the first time. They send technical documentation to customers and end-users and make recommendations for hardware changes if a computer cannot support a particularly needed software program. They typically work alongside other employees in the IT department, often under the supervision of an IT support manager. They use a variety of tools, such as IT helpdesk software, cable testers, hand and power tools, and communication channels. They typically possess an associate's or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a relevant field. They typically work in office environments.

Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the shop, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surfaceThe shop environment can be dusty and noisyDoor are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changesFloors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions, or liquids such as coolants and oils from the machineryMay have to handle parts with sharp edgesPassing forklifts emit gas fumesTools, supplies, and related materials may contain hazardous materialsMay have to occasionally work outdoors where temperatures and climate can fluctuatePersonal Protection Equipment

The wearing of appropriate PPE when on Manufacturing Floor (i.e. Safety Glasses, etc....)
