We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MOHS Histotechnologist to join our team at Burnett Dermatology. The MOHS Histotech will play a crucial role in our pathology laboratory by processing and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, assisting our dermatopathologists in diagnosing skin diseases, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory results.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine histology procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and cover slipping.Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, embedding stations, and staining machines.Prepare histological slides for microscopic examination by dermatopathologists, ensuring high-quality and consistent results.Assist dermatopathologists during grossing procedures and provide technical support as needed.Maintain accurate records of specimen processing, tracking, and documentation according to regulatory requirements.Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality control standards to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.Collaborate with laboratory staff and dermatologists to prioritize and manage workload effectively.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, troubleshooting, and problem-solving to optimize laboratory processes and workflow efficiency.Perform other duties as needed.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Histotechnology, or a related field preferred.Certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) or Histotechnician (HTL) by ASCP or equivalent required.Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a histology laboratory setting, preferably in dermatopathology.Proficiency in histology techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and digital pathology platforms is a plus.Physical Requirements:

Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
