Failure to provide an original social security card will delay the hiring process and ability to begin employment.JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for the administration of university databases.MAJOR DUTIESThorough knowledge of SQL and LinuxDevelop, administer, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of database systemsGuide functional users in the development of database requirements and criteriaDesign and develop interfaces and database views for reporting and application processingExtend the functionality of applications by combining system configuration and custom program development; implement data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance codesFollow-up with clients to facilitate quality control and ensure customer satisfactionAssists in the testing and improvement of new technology initiativesModify database programs to increase processing performanceMaintain and audit institutional data standardsCommunicate with technical, application, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and securityEstablish the data administration function, including designing data models, data definitions, and policies governing administrative data systemsIdentify common data and associated relationships, resolves data definition and ownership issues, and ensures data integrityCoordinate processes to develop data standards policy to improve data accuracy, integration, access and integrityThe position also supports and must greatly contribute to a collaborative customer service team environment, proactively sharing information across the team, establishing documentation, workshops with team members and enhancing an interactive team setting with consistent knowledge sharingPerform related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITIONKnowledge of system administration and architecture conceptsKnowledge of relational data models and database programmingKnowledge of database security principlesSkill in decision making and problem solvingSkill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the publicSkill in oral and written communicationCOMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORKThe work consists of varied duties in the administration of university databases. The need to coordinate activities across university departments and sections contributes to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to administer university databases. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of a wide variety of university functions.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work is typically performed in an office, sitting at a desk or table.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.At least one year of enterprise database or system administration experience.Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases.Ability to maintain regular attendance.Preferred QualificationsIn-depth understanding of relational databases, Oracle and SQL Server, application development tools, and experience in the programming field.Strong knowledge and skill in Linux and Apache Tomcat systemsWorking knowledge of and experience with the design, installation, and technical support of Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL databases in an enterprise-level environment.Two years of experience supporting ERP systems in a large Higher Education environment.Experience with Ellucian Banner, Operational Data Storage (ODS), and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).Ability to monitor database performance metrics such as table space usage, query performance, locking contention, and other performance indicators.
