A recognized government organization in Virginia is currently seeking a new Relational Database Administrator to join their growing team in a Remote capacity.

Responsibilities:

The Relational Database Administrator will be responsible for:Ensuring data is stored, organized, displayed, and analyzed in a way that allows users to perform business-related tasksInstalling, maintaining, and optimizing database servers and systems to ensure they run efficiently and are available to authorized usersManaging database accessCreating and managing reports, visualizations, and dashboardsAutomating repeating tasksDiagnosing and troubleshooting database errorsPerforming other duties, as neededQualifications:

4+ years of hands-on experience in Relational Database Administration2+ years of experience administering DB2 databasesBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldStrong understanding of relational databases and distributed database managementProven experience in planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of database instancesExperience in architectural DB designs at an enterprise level including high availability (HA) and scalable architecturesDemonstrated ability in disaster recovery planning and execution in HA environmentsHigh proficiency with physical database and schema design in 3rd normal formFamiliarity with logical-to-physical data modelingExperience in measuring RDBMS performance, using performance metrics to identify bottlenecks, and planning system-level configurations and other optimizations to mitigate performance bottlenecksHands-on experience with bulk loading of structured dataFamiliarity with database security best practices and techniquesExcellent communication and collaboration skillsEffective time management skills and problem-solving skillsDesired Skills:

6+ years of hands-on experience in Relational Da0tabase Administration4+ years of experience administering DB2Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldCertification in DB2 administration or related technologiesExperience in evaluating and utilizing software products for RDBMS monitoringSkilled in tuning and optimizing poorly performing queriesHands on experience with RDBMS versioning software (LiquiBase, Flyway, etc.)Strong team leadership skills to drive DB schema and architectural designs, as well as mentor and guide team membersExperience with automation and scripting languages for database administration tasks (Python, Ansible, bash, etc.)Experience with change data capture and replication technologies such as IBM Infosphere Data ReplicationFamiliarity with JSON/document Databases, such as Couchbase or Mongo DBExperience administering other RDBMS (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PosgreSQL)Familiarity with Cloud-based Database Solutions
