WORK SCHEDULE: Variable based on events with weekends and evenings as needed. 40 hours/week.

JOB SUMMARY:Primary staff person for supervision and coordination of Burge/DeBruce operations supporting visitors and events. Acts as a contact for visitors, vendors, other Union teams, and event organizers supported by building operations. Maintains facility functionality and appearance, contributing to a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Daily execution for cleaning, event support, and customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Job Knowledge: Executes building operations, activities, and events, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning. Ensures an organized, clean, and professional working environment is available to all while providing event coordination, setup, and support as needed for an exemplary service.2. Custodial: Proactively performs custodial duties across satellite locations as assigned including cleaning, waste disposal, restroom maintenance, and general upkeep of the facility. Trains and works with custodial staff, following cleaning schedules and standards. Monitors supply inventory, and ensures compliance with health and safety standards.3. Fiscal Responsibility: Collaborates with senior departmental leaders and makes effective decisions to ensure supply and resource management. Reviews PT scheduling to address event set up needs while proactively reviewing the schedule to shift assignments to reduce sets.4. Communications: Acts as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Operations Manager, greeting visitors, solving problems, answering questions, and assisting building visitors, event organizers, building tenants, operations staff, vendors, and the KU community. Responsible for timely responses to time-sensitive communications from the building duty phone, building operations staff, and senior supervisors. Communicates Union policies to ensure a safe and engaging experience.5. Use of Technology: Operates and provides training on building A/V equipment, troubleshoots A/V issues during events, and effectively uses Microsoft Office, web-based applications, and an event management database. Assist with EMS self service support and execution.6. Customer Service: Serves as the primary communication link in the absence of the Senior Operations Manager, interacting with operations staff, Union departments, KU offices, building maintenance providers, A/V support services, and other entities. Attends team, departmental, and organizational meetings, contributing to discussions and decision-making processes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly maintains an organized, clean and professional working environment, while coordinating operations staff to do the same.Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:•Effective communication skills for in-person, online, and phone conversations, as well as written exchanges on various digital platforms•Ability to recruit, train, coordinate, direct and develop staff.•Effective organizational skills.•Customer service skills.•Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively and foster a collaborative working environment.•Proven problem-solving abilities and experience handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. At least 2 years of experience in facility management, custodial services, or a related field.3. Basic proficiency in using Microsoft Office and web-based applications.4. Knowledge of custodial procedures and health and safety standards.5. Ability to perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and handling cleaning equipment.6. Strong communication and customer service skills.7. Ability to work a flexible schedule.8. Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and collaborate with people.9. Experience using word-processing applications, email, digital calendars, web-based applications, tablets, and smartphones.10. Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Associate's degree or higher in facility management, hospitality management, or a related field.2. More than 3 years of experience in facility management, custodial services, or event coordination.3. Experience working in a collegiate or university setting.4. Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office, event management databases, and other relevant software.5. Technical skills in operating and troubleshooting A/V equipment.6. Certification in custodial management, facility management, or a related area.7. OSHA or other relevant health and safety certifications.8. Experience supervising staff.

Full-time employment with the Union Corporation is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check prior to being able to begin work. This position is eligible for an employee referral bonus.
