Sterile Processing (SPD) Supervisor

Job Description:Position Summary: This is a working supervisor position. Candidates must hold current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician. In addition to being able to perform the essential duties of a sterile processing technician related to decontamination and sterilization of equipment and instruments, this individual will also be responsible for training and validating competency of staff, as well as direct observation of staff to ensure that Instructions for Use (IFU's) and workflow processes are followed accurately. This position requires at least at least 2 years of experience as an SPT and prior management experience in a hospital setting. The SPT Supervisor reports to the Surgical Servicers Manager and Director of Nursing.Qualifications: At all times, the employee shall possess the following qualifications set forth below.Education/Training: A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Graduation and certification from an accredited school for Surgical Technologists or completion of a training program on sterile processing through AAMI or equivalent organization.Experience: Knowledge of sterilization supplies, equipment and instrumentsKnowledge of organizing, containing, and transporting items of varying compounds, textures or quantitiesKnowledge of transporting and disposing of hazardous materials and sharp objects according to hospital proceduresKnowledge of sterilization procedures of various equipment and instrumentsKnowledge of wrapping and repackaging sterilized instrumentsMust have Cerner EMR experienceSpecial Skills, Licenses or Certifications:Central Service Processing Technician Certification or Certified Operating Room TechnicianBasic computer knowledgeCPR CertificationSkill in using sterilization equipment and instrumentsSkill in arranging instruments on surgical traysSkill in following written instructions and performing multiple tasks.Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with othersPosition Urgency:NormalShifts:Day Shift.
