Quality Assurance Engineer

translates customer, product, and engineering requirements into quality control plans, work instructions, and inspection requirements. They evaluate, monitor, and audit suppliers to insure they meet our requirements. They participate in lean activities to improve quality and reduce scrap, rework, and warranty costs. They develop procedures and process in accordance with ISO 9000, customer, and regulatory requirements.Responsibilities

New product and processes introductionsWork with engineering on new product/process introductions in support of growth

Develop and implement quality control, inspection procdures, and test plans.Ensure inspection and test methods are properly documented, understood, carried out, and records of conformance maintained.Assist the Manufacturing and Product Engineering teams in development of production process and controls including FMEA and Control Plans, Inspection Reports, etc.Supplier QualityEvaluate, audit, and monitor supplier to insure compliance and quality levelsWork with purchasing on outsourcing activities and vendor selection based on capabilitiesIssue and assess vendor corrective action plans are adequate to prevent future defectsISO 9001Maintains procedures and documentation in accordance with ISO requirementsInsures records are kept and retained per customer and ISO requirementsAssists department in review and making changes to procedures in accordance with ISO RequirementsMaintain KPI (Key Process Indicator) reports for the shop, management, and ISO requirementsRoot Cause Corrective ActionLead the CAPA (Corrective Prevesntation Actions) process forCreate, assign, and follow up to the CAPA, corrective, and preventive actions projects.Assist and train organization on root cause methodology including six sigma DMAIC, FMEA, and 8DEvaluate and monitor processes trendsCost of poor quality reductionLead quality improvement projects to reduce defects and cost of poor quality (scrap, rework, and warranty)Use six sigma and related processes to identify systemic, reoccurring, and costly defects.Warranty and RMA InspectionsAssist the quality manager and other departments in support of warranty and other customer satisfaction activitiesPerform inspections of warranty returns for root cause and failure analysis reports to customersPerform site inspections as necessary in support of resolving issuesQualifications

Bachelors of Science Degree (Industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering)2 year minimum experience in a manufacturing, assembly, fabrication or similar industryExperience with ISO 9001 quality management systemsExpert with excel, word, and powerpoint. (plus Access or similar databases preferred)Process Oriented, Accurate, organized, with attention to detailsSupplier approval and related activitiesSix Sigma, Lean, or similar experience demonstrating ability to improve processes
