Job Summary:

The Director of Quality will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across our organization. This position requires a seasoned quality professional with a strong automotive background, extensive problem-solving skills, Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred, and a proven track record of success in driving down production and field quality issues, reducing cost of poor quality, and enhancing overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Leadership:

Provide visionary leadership in developing and implementing a comprehensive quality management system that aligns with industry best practices and company objectives.

Problem Solving:

Utilize a wide range of problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and develop effective corrective and preventive actions to eliminate production issues and enhance product quality.

Cost Management:

Understand the cost implications of quality failures and poor production practices. Develop strategies to minimize scrap rates and warranty costs while optimizing production efficiency.

Communication:

Maintain effective communication channels with customers, internal teams, and suppliers to ensure quality expectations are met. Develop and manage scorecards to track and communicate quality metrics.

Quality Tools:

Expertly implement top-quality and production tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and layered process audits to monitor and improve production processes.

Design and Process Control:

Lead the development of robust design and process control plans. Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential failure modes and implement preventive measures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (A Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering is preferred).

Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of quality management experience in the automotive industry.

In-depth knowledge of quality tools and methodologies.

Proven track record of success in improving product quality and reducing warranty costs.

Strong problem-solving skills and experience in root cause analysis.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ability to develop and implement quality management systems.

Experience with scrap rate reduction strategies.

Proficiency in Score Card development.

Familiarity with automotive industry standards and regulations.
