** Fiore & Sons, Inc**** Utilities Laborer**Denver, CO 80216**SUMMARY**The underground utility laborer assist the utility operators and pipelayer in a variety of duties to install underground pipe for storm, sewers, drains, and water mains. The utility laborer must be dependable and able to follow instructions and familiar with trenching operations. Must be familiar with underground hazards and safety procedures regarding trenching, locates, and pot holing.**TOTAL COMPENSATION**$42,200 - $53,500**Essential Duties and Responsibilities*** Cleans and prepares job sites including removal of debris, garbage, or excess water accumulation.* Helps load and unload utilities materials.* Able to operate a variety of hand tools and machines including water spraying truck and equipment.* Responsible for excavating or back-filling utility trenches using tools and shovels.* Check slopes as instructed for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.* Assist utility operators and pipe layers maneuver pipe, manholes o trench boxes in to position.* Assist grade trenches or culverts.* Perform other duties as assigned.**Qualifications*** General knowledge of trench and utilities site safety* Experience with grading trenches and operation of laser leveling systems is preferred.* Must have a good safety history and a willingness to engage and contribute to ongoing safe work practices including strong knowledge of excavation, trenching and shoring safety standards.* Responsible and reliable employee with good attendance habits.* Ability to follow direction and be a team-player.* Must be able to effectively communicate with supervisors, team members, and client representatives.E***DUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:*****Required**: At minimum a high school diploma or GED with 6 months of verifiable experience in the utilities industry.**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:**This job has no supervisory duties.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Push, pull, and lift items 25 to 50 pounds.**WORK ENVIRONMENT:**Outside work exposed to variant weather conditions (hot, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions.
