Position Summary
SciPlay is a leading developer and publisher of digital games on mobile and web platforms, providing highly entertaining free-to-play games that millions of people play every day for their authenticity, engagement and fun.
SciPlay currently offers nine core games, including social casino games Jackpot Party Casino, Gold Fish Casino Slots, Hot Shot Casino and Quick Hit Slots, and casual games MONOPOLY Slots, Bingo Showdown, 88 Fortunes Slots, Backgammon Live, and Solitaire Pet Adventure with offices all over the world!
You'll be part of SciTech, the platform development team of SciPlay. SciTech develops innovative solutions to enable our partner teams to create the best player experiences possible. Developing services, breaking apart monoliths, and creating tools to make our lives easier are all part of the day-to-day of the SciTech team.
Essential Job Functions:Work with multiple game teams to define and create shared server infrastructure and libraries to facilitate the needs of all teamsHelp further extend and own the games' common PHP tools frameworkStay apprised of and evaluate new technologies and programming practicesIdentify and refactor problematic areas of codebaseUse Git on a daily basis to manage source codePerform code review for fellow engineersResearch and utilize third party APIs (Facebook, Teak, Adjust, etc)Occasional light front end web work with HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptMentor junior engineers and assist them with feature development and debuggingParticipate in on-site interviews with engineering candidatesHelp migrate existing on-premises applications to the cloudQualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalentRequired Experience:
5+ years of software development experienceExperience writing backend server code using PHPExperience with PHP development frameworks such as Laravel or SymfonyFamiliarity with frontend development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptExperience working with MySQL or another RDBMSStrong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skillsExperience with modern version control systems like Git and MercurialStrong communication skillsPreferred Experience:
Social / Mobile game developmentExperience migrating legacy on-premises applications to the cloud. (Amazon Web Services (AWS) etc)Experience working with AWS Database technologies such as RDS, DynamoDB, etcExperience working with AWS Service Technologies such as ECS, Fargate, Elastic Load Balancers, etcMicroservice development (Node.js, Lambda, etc)Experience with containers/container management. (Docker, Vagrant, etc)Experience with creating and maintaining packages.Experience with build/CI systems like JenkinsKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Experience working from the command line and using common utilities (grep, tail, etc)Experience with NoSQL databases (Couchbase, Memcached, Redis, MongoDB, etc)Front end best practices using HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptProfessional experience working in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environmentWe are SciPlay!
