Position Summary:

The Software Developer plays a critical role in the development, maintenance, and optimization of the Symitar core processing system and maintains software, databases, reports, and forms for internal and external credit union use. This position is essential for ensuring that our credit union's systems are efficient, secure, and responsive to the needs of our members and staff. The Software Developer will work closely with various departments to support and enhance our financial services and member experiences through innovative programming solutions.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for code reviews and deployment of internal applications.Participates in architecture, requirement discussions, and design of internal applications.Meets the needs of the end-user in a quality and professional manner, typically using independent judgement.Researches and recommends new software products as it relates to new or improved technical services.Ability to work in a collaborative environment.Develops, tests, and implements software solutions for credit union users.Identifies process improvement and automation opportunities.Maintains efficient code base to assure applications meet user needs through continued testing, debugging, and documentation of code.Designs and maintains databases in conjunction with departmental information storage requirements.Generates database reports and develops reporting interfaces for users.Keeps current on new/relevant programming techniques through research and professional development.Proactively meets with departments to determine and resolve programming needs.Ensures adherence to project specs and schedules. Develops solutions to programming requests from various departments.Conducts quality assurance testing, adheres to programming standards.Maintains and modifies core applications using HTML, Power ON, JavaScript and other programming languages to meet system changes and credit unio specifications.Troubleshoot existing code to minimize user downtime and maximize service.Provide operational and on-call support as required in a 24/7 environment.Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferredProven experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or similar role.Proficiency in one or more programming languages (HTML, FTP, SQL, Net, Java, Python, C#, JavaScript preferred).Strong understanding of software development principles and methodologies.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Strong communication skills and attention to detail.Experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Object -Oriented Programming (OOP), service-oriented architectures, SQL, JavaScript, Jquery, CSS Styles, C# (C, C+, C++), Visual Studio, and HTML.SOAP, REST and other API experience a plus.General knowledge and understanding of relational and hierarchical database concepts.Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities in order to meet deadlines.3 to 5 years of experience with the Symitar core, SymXchange, PowerFrame, and EASE preferredKey Competencies:
