WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons a year throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.At our WellStone Emergency Services facility (WES) we care for adults in mental health or substance use crisis. The Registered Nurse will evaluate our patients for emergent care needs and support our therapeutic team with in patient treatment plans. Documenting the medical progress and notes while keeping up with all state and federal regulations. What we're looking for:Valid Alabama State License-CurrentPrefer Two Years Nursing ExperienceExcellent Verbal/Written CommunicationComputer KnowledgePRN (On-Call), All Shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd), Monday through Friday.Will be required to show nursing certificate What you'll be doing:Conduct vital signs, i.e. orthostatic blood pressure, weight, height, pulse rate information on involuntarily committed patients of our 16-bed locked down facilityPrepare discharge planningProvide basic living skillsObtain information from client regarding his/her physical statusMake inquiries of client to include any changes with him/her, symptoms, etc.Assess medication side effects and/or adverse reactionsPerform medication monitoringPerform crisis intervention techniques as neededAdminister injections, document in client's electronic medical record on a regular basisComply with OSHA regulations when administering I.M. medicationsInterface with local laboratories to obtain test resultsAnswer telephonesEnsure required training is up to dateMay be asked to work at our Crisis Respite Center for our 10-patient facilityMay be asked to sign off on nursing assessmentsMay be asked to provide approval of seclusion/restraints as necessaryMiscellaneous:Maintain licensure in the State of AlabamaComplete and maintain documentation in a timely mannerAttend staff meetingsAbility to multi-task, prioritize and use effective listening and communication skills both oral and writtenAbility to walk throughout the facilityAbility to remain calm and effective in emergency situationsAbility to provide a safe environment and promote quality care through adherence to established standards of care and facility policies, procedures and protocolsComplete tasks as assigned by program manager or his/her designee.We care for those impacted by behavioral health disorders, we are committed to one another through collaboration, and we are optimistic problem solvers who do what it takes to get the job done.
