Position Summary:

Drives assigned vehicle to deliver meals to homebound older adults throughout Cuyahoga CountyON CALL

- Daytime hours. Monday - Friday only.Approximately 6 hours per day when called.Work Hours 8:30a to 4:30p$500 SIGN-ON BONUS - Paid after successful completion of 90 days!!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following description is a general representation of the key duties and responsibilities of the position.

Counts meals prior to loading truck to make sure the number is correct for delivery including special lunches;Delivers meals to clients in private homes and apartments;Reports the clients' change in condition including changes to the physical living condition and undeliverable meal status. Report any clients' change in condition to HDM Administrator/Center Director;Record all meal delivery and daily route activity using ServTracker technology;Maintain and complete the daily recap sheet;Makes weekly inspection of vehicle using designated forms for preventive maintenance;Purchases gas for vehicle and submits the receipt to the HDM Administrator/Center DirectorReports all accidents to HDM Administrator/Center Director and police as required by Agency policy for insurance purposes.Proficient and accurate accounting of meal delivery and all reporting related to meal delivery;Professional interaction with clients in completing necessary documentation and required signatures;Washes trays, tubs, and delivery bags used in vehicle to store food at the end of each day;Assists with counting and loading meals onto a truck to assure correct count for each delivery;Keeps vehicle clean and sanitary inside and out;Completes vehicle check each morning;Responsible for cleaning and sanitation of vehicles;Requirements

Qualifications:Specific knowledge, training or skills required to perform the duties of this position including specific courses, training programs or required certifications.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.High School diploma or equivalent required;Previous experience in driving a van and/or a light truck required;Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions a nd route schedule;Must be able to relate t o older adults of different ethnic and income groups, and varying capabilities;Must have valid Driver's License with established DMV safe driving standards;Must submit to a criminal background and motor vehicle background check and a pre-employment physical and drug & alcohol test;Must take and successfully complete safe driver courses (agency pays for courses) that are required for agency drivers by funding sources.Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a vehicle;On a daily basis must be able to climb at least twenty (20) steps carrying hot and cold food;Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus;Light to moderate lifting is required, up to 50 pounds;Ability to uphold the stress of traveling;Must be able to drive in extreme weather condition (snow, ice, etc.);Must be able to work in extremely hot and cold outdoor temperatures;Regular, predictable attendance is required;Moderate noise (i.e. traffic);Ability to work in a confined area;Ability to sit in a vehicle for an extended period of time;Work environment is stressful at times.

Salary Description

$14 to $15 per hour
