Summary About the Position: Serves as an Office Administrator (Office Automation) at a lake project or OP office. Greets visitors personally or via the telephone and is expected to apply a broad knowledge of lake project/area office functions in responding to visitor needs. Personally deals with many visitors and directs others to appropriate source. Utilizes several different software systems to process the work of the office. Responsibilities Provides administrative and clerical support to the project/area office. Assists in the preparation of budget estimates and monitoring expenditures against the approved allotments. Serves as a point of contact and source of information for personnel administration areas. Serves as Project Office point-of-contact on procurement and contract regulations ensuring administrative requirements for submission to the Contracting Division are met and that acquisitions comply with applicable laws and regulations. Serves as a source of information for all regulatory and procedural requirements necessary for processing work at the lake/OP office. Receives all incoming mail and requests for information. Performs a variety of other general clerical and administrative duties to include preparing travel orders, scheduling meetings, maintaining appointment calendars, maintaining postage meters, paying utility bills, etc. Operating and insuring maintenance of office equipment such as copy machines and fax machines, and operating a 2-way radio to communicate with project personnel. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications for GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes completing administrative and clerical office work such as timekeeping, filing, or drafting correspondence processing of records and/or documents inputting data into automated systems; and utilizing technical program applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Qualifications for the GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring supply inventory and tracking office purchases; providing employees information addressing pay, leave, or other inquiries; and utilizing office automation software to compile, sort, and/or filter information This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Qualifications for the GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in budget preparation; researching information to resolve problems; and preparing personnel reports using automated program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional Information This position will be located in Carlyle, IL and will allow for situational telework only. This position is NOT eligible for full time telework.
