Overview

The Director of Grants Management will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization's grant management practices to the next level. This position requires a dynamic leader with strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a clear understanding of grant funding mechanisms and compliance requirements. The Director of Grants Management will work closely with each market and system leaders to identify and implement aligned processes across the system and markets for grant tracking, managing grant awards, identifying potential funding sources, prioritizing grant opportunities that align with UnityPoint Health's programs and strategic initiatives, and the effective stewardship of grant funds. This position will also convene all UPH grant writers to intentionally coordinate the most appropriate requests to funders on behalf of the system and markets. Establish, Implement, and Monitor comprehensive processes and procedures for grantsmanagement and tracking:* Promote Collaboration - Encourage collaboration between departments, finance, and foundationteams involved in grant management. Foster a culture of shared responsibility, regularcommunication, and coordinated efforts to enhance overall effectiveness.* Standardize and Centralize Grants Management - Identify and adopt a system-wide tool formaintaining all Federal and State Grant related work (applications and post-awardmanagement) to improve tracking, reporting, and accessibility, reducing reliance on disparatemethods Additionally, introduce written procedures to provide clear guidelines and ensureconsistency across the organization for Federal and State Grants, creating a centralizedframework to streamline processes.* Enhance Compliance Interactions - Implement a more cohesive strategy for complianceinteractions. Through partnership with UPH Compliance create standardized complianceprotocols, ensuring consistent reviews that all relevant requirements are met, and provideadequate training to relevant staff members.* Coordinate with UnityPoint Central Accounting* Risk Mitigation Strategies - Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks,including missed opportunities, staffing issues/back-up plans, and compliance concerns. Focuson enhancing awareness, communication, and adherence to compliance requirements.* Prepare regular reports and updates on grant activities, accomplishments, and challenges formarket foundations, Vice President of System Philanthropy, and Foundation/Government AffairsIdentify potential funding sources, relevant information, and grant opportunities that align with UPH programs and initiatives: * Actively engage service-line and program leaders to identify strategically funding priorities. * Develop and implement process for accurately sourcing and evaluating grant opportunities with with the corresponding funding priorities. * Collaborate with program managers and other staff to develop a concerted effort around the collection and management of relevant information, data, and narratives for grant proposals. * Lead the preparation, writing, and submission of grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder guidelines and deadlines for UnityPoint System initiatives and Markets as identified. * Intentionally coordinate efforts with existing grant writers across the UnityPoint system to ensure needs are met and resources are aligned with priorities.Continuous Improvement: Establish a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewingand refining grant management processes. Encourage feedback from stakeholders and leveragetechnology to streamline administrative tasks.* Training and Awareness Programs - Invest in training programs to enhance awareness andknowledge of grant-related processes and compliance requirements. Ensure that staff membersare well-equipped to handle their roles effectively.Qualifications

Education:Bachelor's Degree OR Master's DegreeExperience:

Proven track record of successfully sourcing, securing, and managing grants from various sources in a complex matrix structured setting. Experience working across clinicians, program managers, finance, accounting, and operations in a health care setting on Federal and State grants application and management.License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:* Must read, speak and write fluent English. * Possesses excellent written and verbal communications. * Understanding of grant funding mechanisms, including federal, state, and private grants, as well as familiarity with grant application processes, compliance regulations, and reporting requirements. * Must have ability to manage grant budgets, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements. Knowledge of accounting principles and budgeting processes is essential. * Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Knowledgeable on personal computers and spreadsheet software. * Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships. * Maintains a positive attitude and provides high standard of customer service. * Capability to develop and implement strategic plans for grant acquisition, including identifying funding opportunities, setting funding priorities, and aligning grant activities with organizational goals. * Blackbaud Raiser's Edge experience preferred. * Capacity to analyze grant-related data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Ability to troubleshoot problems, resolve issues, and adapt strategies as needed.Area of Interest:
