Position Summary:
Host/Hostess ensures residents receive freshly prepared meals served restaurant-style throughout the day in a professional, caring manner in accordance with federal and state regulations and Oaks Senior Living dining standards.
Assists residents and guests with all aspects of restaurant-style meal service for the Main Dining Room. Sets tables, takes food and beverage orders, serves residents and guests, and clears tables. Ensures dining room is vacuumed, tables cleared and cleaned, and tables reset after each meal service assigned.
Qualifications:Experience working for large groupsDesire to work with older adultsAbility to read, write, and speak EnglishFriendly, caring dispositionMust be 18 years of ageMust have a satisfactory criminal history checkMust have physical exam by a licensed physicianMust have a negative drug screenMust be able to react in an emergencyPrimary Responsibilities:
Dining Service
Serve food in accordance with nutritional guidelines, local health department regulations, and resident's individual prescribed diet and food preferencesAssist care partners with serving quality meals during main meal times in main dining roomServe resident and guest meals in accordance with Oaks All Day Dining programAssist in fostering residents' independence with eating by providing adaptive equipment when neededEnsure healthy snacks are set out at appropriate and scheduled timesAcquaint new residents with menus, seating, and dining options and hoursEnsure that food is delivered on time and in a pleasant mannerEnsure Resident food needs and preferences are known and are being honoredTake resident orders for meals on a daily basisResponds to customer service requests and complaintsNotify Food Service Director or Lead Cook of any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliancesClean and sanitize tables, chairs, condiment containers, and equipment used in the dining roomVacuum dining room after each main meal settingSpot clean carpet as neededWash and prepare linen napkins for place settingCommunicate resident likes and dislikes to Food Service Director for menu planning purposes and resident satisfactionInform kitchen staff if residents will be out of community at meal timeInform kitchen staff when resident would like to have a meal outside of scheduled meal timesInform kitchen staff when guest will be joining for mealCreate a strong sense of team work and cooperation among all staffEnsure table settings are complete and have fresh condiments for the servicePrepare and serve beverages including refilling coffee, tea and other beverages during main meals and throughout the day in accordance with Oaks All Day dining programObserves changes in resident status, needs or preferences and communicates them appropriately to Wellness DirectorAssist care partners with clearing dining tables during main meal timesReset dining tables with place settings and ensure salt and pepper shakers are clean and full, sugar packets and creamers are replenished immediately following meal timesOther duties as assignedRegulatory Compliance and Sanitation
Ensure compliance with local health department regulations and the Oaks Senior Living policies and proceduresMaintain a clean, organized, and safe dining room environmentEnsure proper storage and handling of food in accordance with infection control standardsMaintain CPR & First Aid certification.Knowledge Requirements
