We recognize the importance of creating a work environment that is both rewarding to our employees and supportive of our unwavering commitment to provide unparalleled service to our clients.**Purpose**Perform and track daily inspection of construction work on a variety of roadway projects.**Responsibilities****Leadership and Direction**+ Perform work under moderate supervision. Receive direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution. Work is frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.**At the Operational and Company Level**+ Assist in the maintenance of existing client relationships.**Do the Work**+ Observe and inspect construction work and prepare daily inspection reports and constructability reviews.+ Oversee daily construction work including work zone traffic control, earthwork, erosion control, asphalt paving, concrete paving, drainage structure installation, reinforced concrete, and equipment installation.+ Observe construction work in progress to ensure performance with specifications and contract documents. Review coordinated sets of working drawings.+ Complete daily calculating, reporting, documenting, and communicating verbally and in writing.+ Compute quantities for items such as concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork, drainage structures, and traffic control devices.+ Operate company vehicle, computer, and testing equipment.+ Analyze shop drawings of moderate complexity.+ Maintain daily job log.+ Refer and report problems and deviations from plans and specifications to management. Engineering program completion preferred, commensurate experience considered.+ Three or more (3+) years of construction/inspection experience on roadway projects required.+ Experience on DOT or municipal roadway projects including daily records and reports on asphalt paving, concrete work, grading, structural work, and erosions control preferred.+ DOT CEI Certifications are a plus. May be required to participate in certification and training courses post-hire as required by OSHA, DOT, or client-specific requirements (i.e. concrete, asphalt certifications, erosion control, and safety training).+ Knowledge of road and bridge construction techniques, design, DOT specifications and documents, standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry required.+ Experience using tools and equipment such as air meter, slump cone, transit, level, and tape measure preferred.+ Possession of or ability to obtain the following certifications within 12: CEPSCI ("Certified Erosion Prevention & Sediment Control Inspector") State specific EXAMPLES: SCDOT Earthwork/Base/Drainage SCDOT Nuclear Gauge Hazardous Materials SCDOT PCC Level 1 and 2 SCDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician NOTE: KEEP Relevant CTQP ("Construction Training Qualification Program") certifications in the Opportunity CTQP Final Estimates Level I CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges) CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II CTQP Pile Driving Inspection CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection Nuclear Radiation Safety OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Program Work zone Traffic Control Supervisor IMSA Fiber Optic or Traffic Signal Technician**Physical Demands and Working Environment**+ Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.+ Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).+ Partly indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.+ Mobility around an office environment.+ Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.+ Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.+ Occasional lifting or carrying up to 75 pounds.+ Occasional pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds.+ Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.#LI-RL1**Job Description Disclaimer**Note: While this job description is intended to be an accurate reflection of the job requirements, it is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
