This is a Direct Hire opportunity.
Location: Grand Rapids, MI - Hybrid (GR office one/two days per week)
Work Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8 - 5 EST; occasional weekends or evenings for production release support or off-hours processing.

About the role:The Senior Database Developer reports to the Database Manager and is responsible for database design, procedural scripting, performance tuning, management, automation tools, database security and integrity, database modernization, back-ups and testingThis position collaborates with the application development, business intelligence, network admin and business analyst teamsThey will analyze, design, build, test, implement, support and maintainSQL databases, data warehouses, data exchange/interfaces, and SSIS/SSRS to meet the company's requirements for availability, performance, scalability, and securityThey will adhere to established and agreed on best practices and standardsThey will maintain awareness of emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trendsResearch and evaluate new technologies and practices for applicabilityPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and refactor database physical and logical structures and assess for new application functionalityWork with application developers and stakeholders on overall application design and architectureEvolve database structures to improve access and maintainability where necessaryDevelop and improve server-to-server integration systems and processes with business partners (publications, FTP, web services, .xml interfaces, APIs, etc.)Tuning queries and stored procedures for scalability and performanceResolve support issues to maintain data and business integrityStakeholder collaboration, task planning, solution delivery and data Project ManagementEvaluate, propose and implement appropriate database monitoring and control tools to support and improve overall system security, integrity and healthMaintain plan for back-up, recovery, and high availability. Maintain data availability for applications that are running 24x7Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive experience working with MS SQL ServerExperience modeling data and designing enterprise database architecturesKnowledge of formal database architecture and designExperience with SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Integration Services (SSIS)Experience developing and maintaining data archival strategies and reporting optimizationExperience with both normalized and de-normalized dataExperience with performance tuningDesired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with Azure SQL, Managed Instance, Data Factory, C#, and PowerShellExperience with Power BIExperience with middle tier applications consuming data, specifically .NET and web servicesExperience with Agile Methodology, Change Management, and IT General Controls (ITGC)Experience with database unit testingExperience with Data Warehouse design and implementation
