About the Role:We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as Sr. Artificial Intelligence (Sr. Director of Applied AI) to drive AI initiatives and transform the future of our organization. Build and lead a high-performing team of AI architects and data scientists. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Develop and execute AI strategy:
Partner with AI leaders from tech and digital organizations to define and implement a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with WEX's strategic goals.
Build AI Solutions:
Lead a team of data scientists working with machine learning engineers to build AI solutions.
Hands-On Oversight:
Actively contribute to the design, development, evaluation, and implementation of AI solutions.
Drive AI innovation:
Lead the development and deployment of cutting-edge AI models and algorithms to solve real-world business problems.
Build partnerships:
Collaborate with senior stakeholders across WEX to identify and address AI opportunities.
Champion AI adoption:
Foster a culture of AI adoption across WEX.
Measure and communicate impact:
Establish clear metrics to measure the impact of AI initiatives.

Technical Expertise:
Deep understanding of AI principles, techniques, and tools.

Effectively communicate AI concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience you'll bring:Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
15+ years of experience with 10+ years of experience in AI research, development, or deployment.
10+ years of experience leading and managing AI teams.
Proven track record of delivering impactful AI solutions to real-world business problems.
Experience with a wide range of AI techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other relevant languages.
Practice experience in using AI tools such as Dataiku, Sagemaker, as well as using large language models (LLMs).
What would make you stand out:Experience in the fintech or payments industry.
Experience with cloud-based AI platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Google Cloud AI Platform).
Publications in top-tier AI conferences or journals.
Experience with AI ethics and responsible AI practices.
