Medline is seeking an SAP Manufacturing Business system Architect with experience in MM, PP and EWM with an emphasis on PP module. Medline, located in Mundelein is adding a position to our SAP Manufacturing Product team with at least 15 years of experience as a Manufacturing SAP system principal consultant and has ‘owned’ technical designs in Manufacturing space for at least 3 S4 Implementations.

This position will work closely with business and IT leaders to connect technology initiatives with business strategies, collaborate on and influence change to business models, process, organizations, and investments by contributing a technology perspective and analytical approach to decision activities. He/She will provide the leadership, analysis and design to SAP S/4 Manufacturing Product team which is responsible for the Plan to Produce process. This role will also support business strategy by ensuring the delivery of expected business outcomes during project execution and maintain project alignment with architectural governance, standards and best practices. 

Activities also include being accountable for all operational support, strategic enhancements, and release management of the S/4 Manufacturing systems. Must have a strong knowledge of discreet, process, and repetitive manufacturing processes, preferably in the medical device/healthcare industry. Must be an expert in S4 Manufacturing area and has owned configurations and solutions as a technology leader. 

He/She will be accountable for leading all new implementation projects and all ongoing application lifecycle management of S4 HANA Manufacturing solution. This will include working business leaders, IS leadership, IT architecture team along with local and overseas IS team, overseeing resolution/testing/documenting solution defects, managing solution governance, reviewing solution quality, managing systems upgrades and enhancements, and spearheading key continuous improvement initiatives and solution decisions/roadmap in the future. He/she will also be responsible for working on the solution extension for any business expansion, including fit/gap against the template Medline solution, new system build elements, testing and regression testing, deployment, and support.

The S4 HANA MFG stream encompasses all manufacturing processes. Not only will you provide support for the S4 HANA MFG business processes, you will also share your expertise in the end-to-end supply chain process and its key integration with EWM, Supply chain/MM and finance.

The challenging responsibilities of the position include: 

  • Understand Medline business processes in Manufacturing, Supply chain and related areas.

  • Support, architect, design and help with requirements elicitation in MM & PP modules within SAP S/4 and ECC systems.

  • Identifies the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture.

  • Research and design implementation strategies for new or alternate technologies that will further business goals and provide competitive advantages.

  • Stay abreast of current technology trends both in the industry as a whole and with the applications deployed in the landscape.

  • Define the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure technical decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.

  • Create architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects, and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information) in a way that is directly actionable, clear and unambiguous.

  • Work closely with the product owners and project/product managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Coach, mentor, and collaborates with technical subject matter experts, application team members, and EA peers to implement architectures that enable and drive new business capabilities and operating models.

  • Author & communicate business process design (BPD), business systems design (BSD) and system test plans.

  • ?Completing the functional specifications for any interfaces, forms and extensions required in the S4 HANA PP/MFG work stream.

  • ??Conducting unit testing, functional and system integration testing, both functional and security, and triaging system deficiencies when they occur.

  • Handling the interfaces between ECC and S4 HANA SAP systems, any 3rd party system integrations, root cause and fix errors.

  • ?Knowledge of handling Output types, IDOCs, batch jobs is a plus.

  • ?Triaging issues and defects and track and report on resolution and perform root cause analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Manufacturing area are required.

  • At least 15 years total SAP systems experience

  • At least 3 implementations on SAP S4 system leading MFG workstream

  • Strong functional and business knowledge in different SAP MM & PP modules.

  • Basic knowledge of EDI functions and usages.

  • Experienced with SAP MM & PP master data is required.

  • Past experience in SAP Fiori is preferred.

  • Experienced with labelling software such as OpenText, Document Presentment a plus.

  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation

  • Skilled at influencing, guiding and facilitating stakeholders and peers with decision making.

  • Good understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of those technologies to evolving business and operating models

  • Ability to organize & balance multiple projects/priorities.

  • Must be self-motivated with capability to work independently.

  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of technology alternatives

  • Trusted and respected as a thought leader who can influence and persuade business and IT leaders and IT development teams

  • Availability for 10-15% overnight domestic travel.
