Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Handling Design Engineer for a 12-month contract assignment supporting the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant near Richland, WA. This onsite role offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization / demobilization. Our client is targeting up to $85.00/hour for this role.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Project Overview:
We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. The Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant is located 22 miles northwest of Richland, WA.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the Mechanical Handling Team designing the areas of material handling equipment, treatment, and vitrification systems, and/or supporting utilities.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D models, detail drawings, design proposal drawings, and simulations.
  • Meet with engineers to establish their requirements for a new or existing mechanical designs.
  • Working on 2D and 3D CAD and CAE software, such as SolidWorks, MicroStation and IGRIP, to create drawings and models in line with the design drawings and specifications.
  • Creating designs in accordance with company regulations and client standards and values.
  • Support the procurement of equipment by developing procurement packages, reviewing quotations, and evaluating them technically.
  • Review of vendor submittals and resolution of technical issues during the procurement of mechanical equipment.
