Major Responsibilities:Assist with the client admission process by completing all required documentation accurately. Searches clients and their belongings for contraband upon admission.Serve as a residential counselor using recovery-oriented principles for a specified number of residents. Work as part of a team to create a safe therapeutic milieu by fostering a culture of recovery.Implement treatment plans and properly document using progress/service notes.Work with clients to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) which may include personal hygiene, self-care skills, laundry, money management, budgeting, symptom management, relapse prevention, and other necessary interventions.Ensure healthy menu planning, food shopping, and meal preparation through coordination and assistance.Monitor clients' medication, refills, documentation of medications and changes, and assist with attending appointments.Work with clients to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores, bedroom upkeep, yard work, and other light housekeeping duties.May be required to provide physical assistance and close supervision.Transport clients in a personal vehicle or a company vehicle (if provided by the program), except for Passages, MYR, Urgent Care, Detox & TSS.Maintain and comply with regulations as applicable for DMH, HUD, BSAS, and DPH.Assist individuals with intervention work as outlined in their treatment plans.Lead skill development and/or other groups as assigned.Redirect clients as needed to provide a safe atmosphere.Provide crisis intervention and support. Monitor client location and condition per program regulations.Perform program cleaning, including laundry and organizing program supplies.Notify supervisor of any identified problems or deficiencies in the program.Review resident records, medication logs, and treatment plans for completeness and accuracy.Answer telephone in a professional manner while documenting all relevant information.II. Position Qualifications:License/Certification/Education:Required:Minimum of a high school diploma/GED/HiSet.Satisfactory CORI background check.Preferred:Associate's Degree.Certification in addiction counseling.Must have a current valid US-issued driver's license and a registered, inspected, and insured automobile for work-related purposes.Experience/Skills:Required:Understanding of Addiction and Recovery.Demonstrate person-centered strength-based communication.Effective communication with staff and peers.Preferred:Previous human service experience.2 years' experience in the substance abuse field.Department-specific competencies will be developed and maintained in the individual departments.Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:Work is considered medium. May be required to lift up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 20 lbs occasionally.
