JOB/POSITION TITLE: Development & Operations Specialist, Triad

Salary Range: Starting at $50,300
JOB/POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development & Operations Specialist works as an independent contributor and as part of a team to execute the resource development strategy of the Triad region, working with staff and appealing to individuals, clubs, organizations, and businesses throughout the community to develop partnerships and a sincere vested interest in our mission to raise funds and awareness. This role is responsible for the day-to-day fundraising management operations, such as mail & money processing, data base fundraising entry, and working alongside volunteer auction committees.
The Development & Operations Specialist works closely with the Senior Market Director to implement all aspects of the development plan in the Triad region. The Development & Operations Specialist assists with fundraising activities including, but not limited to: fund drives, individual giving, cause marketing campaigns, donor relations, ancillary fundraising events, live & silent auction, wish family engagement, and signature fundraising events especially the spring Kentucky Derby Classic. Position assists with donor recruitment, cultivation, retention, stewardship and appreciation. The Development & Operations Specialist also assists with logistical support, volunteer management, and administrative duties.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising:
· Support development efforts by maintaining, cultivating, and stewarding donors and prospective individuals, corporations, and organizations to invest in our mission.
· Support development efforts through community education presentations, prospect meetings, and any related engagement or relationship development interaction.
· Support organization in work to obtain event and in-kind donations, identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit existing and additional donors.
· Support efforts to identify, solicit, steward, maintain, and upgrade annual donors.
· Work closely with the Director of Development to execute fund development goals, programs, and plans in the Triad region.
· Assist with management of internal event auction procurement, meeting fiscal goal and budgets expectations, as well as assist in volunteer recruitment and management.
· Solicit new and renewal items for annual Kentucky Derby Classic silent auction, with items total value approximating $100,000.
· Stewardship of $100 -$999 level donors, and monthly giving donors
Event Logistical Support:
· Manages consultants and vendors prior to and during the event to ensure flawless efficiency.
· Maintains event budgets and prepares check requests.
· Oversees the post-event coordination including but not limited to debrief meetings, recognition to key constituents, financial reporting and data transfer.
· Informs and updates staff members and other involved parties throughout the event cycle.
· Manage committee to solicit auction items.
· Manage all event processes in OneCause including: auction item upload, guest management, financial logging, and event(s) website management.
· Work with Volunteer Manager to recruit and train volunteers.
· Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Record Keeping and Administrative Support:
· Utilize SalesForce to maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor information for evaluation, stewardship, and reporting.
· Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and management of the Greensboro office internship program; following an organized plan to provide tasks, instill growth and leadership to further develop their knowledge of a non-profit career.
· Process mail to assist Database and Information Manager with batch imports. Work with Charlotte Office Manager to manage IT support and ordering of office supplies for the Triad office.
· Submit building maintenance requests to building superintendent.
· Manage check requests and purchase card transaction tracking.
· Answer phone and door and direct donors and guests to staff and resources.
· Perform data entry, event preparation, and other duties as assigned by the Senior Market Director.
NECESSARY SKILLS:
· A self-starter to take initiative and encourage others; must have the self-confidence, the integrity, the intellect, and the perseverance that inspires trust and confidence.
· A decisive thinker, doer and strategic leader; will challenge, push and inspire volunteers and donors to think “big” and long-term; the ability to focus donors and volunteers on key issues/initiatives that will benefit the organization in the long term.
· Excellent communication, management and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational/administrative skills; will be hands-on, someone who will get into the details and can handle multiple projects simultaneously and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
· Financial acumen; must be comfortable with the financials of the business; operates with transparency and manages limited resources well.
· An entrepreneurial spirit; a highly driven, energetic, detail oriented, roll-up-the-sleeves yet disciplined work style; a person who enjoys a small company atmosphere and will be comfortable in an environment with lean staffing; the ability to wear several different hats and switch gears quickly and frequently.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point (SalesForce & OneCause experience is a plus).
· Experience with pledge-based campaigns and grassroots fundraising.
· Ability to drive to events, meetings, planning sessions and other Make-A-Wish proceedings and to access reliable transportation for long drives.
· Ability to maintain flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed and creativity to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Networking experience, ability to create new professional relations as well as nourish current relationships.
· Skillset to effectively work in a team and collaborative environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Non-Profit Management, Communications or another related field (equivalent work experience may be substituted).
· A minimum of two years’ experience in non-profit (or comparable) organizations is preferred.
· Must be able to lift or carry a minimum of 40 pounds
· Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
