Assistant Store Manager - 3801 3RD ST., SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94124
The Save Mart Companies is one of the largest food retailers in California and Nevada. It is home to several well-known brands in food retailing, including Save Mart, Lucky, Lucky California, and Food Maxx. The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) works in tandem with the Store Manager in directing and leading all aspects of the day-to-day store operations and is responsible for overall direction and leadership of store operations in collaboration with the Store Manager. The ASM determines final decisions on store operations in the absence of the Store Manager and manages store conditions, product quality, and store inventory at all times. The ASM leads and directs front-end and center-store operations, providing team members with work assignments, direction, training, coaching, and counseling to meet or exceed expected company service levels. The ASM is responsible for achieving maximum sales and gross profits for Center Store and Front-end operations while collaborating with perimeter department managers to implement strategies that control labor, utilities, and other operating expenses. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Manage all front-end store operations, oversee and direct team members, and conduct time management training. Resolve inventory issues with vendors and warehouses, ensuring product quality and date integrity. Supervise, direct, and coach team members in their duties and conduct performance reviews. Manage the in-store training program and provide ongoing developmental opportunities for team members. Participate in the recruiting and hiring process, including evaluating applicants and conducting interviews. Promote effective two-way communications with customers and store team members. Direct and assign work to teams and provide support to execute store-level business strategy. Drive customer focus throughout the store and assist with Customer Connection programs. Support the achievement of storewide sales goals and analyze sales and profitability data. Ensure compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security policies, and legal mandates. Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Excellent leadership/team building skills Strong communication (written and verbal) Excellent interpersonal, customer service, coaching/mentoring, training skills Proven abilities in decision making, delegation, and negotiation Strong organization, administration, and financial skills Fundamental understanding of labor contracts Knowledge of store operations, financials, and applicable laws Education:
Four-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge through formal education, specialized training, or job experience) Experience:
3 years of related experience Physical:
