About the RoleAs the Director of Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of Systems Engineers to define and manage the requirements for our audio systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, development, and testing, to ensure that our audio products meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and user experience. Because of the nature of the development efforts, this leader will not only organize the team but also be hands-on on a variety of stages of development including requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, design reviews, validation and verification testing.

Your TeamThe team will be comprised of Systems Engineers and Field Application Engineers both domestically in the US and overseas in various regions.

What You Will DoCustomer and field application engagement:

Partner with global HEA Sales team to serve as technical POCs preparing and delivering technical presentations and demos to potential customers.Precisely capture customer failure report in pre-aligned document with Project engineering and assist root cause analysis, containment plans and corrective actions and Change management.Support sales teams in customer account reviews (Business reviews & Technical Roadmap Alignment Meetings), customer pitches and sell-in efforts with technical expertise in a way all stakeholders can understand.

Requirements Gathering and Analysis:

Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, platform team, development engineers to gather and align on requirements and acceptance criteria for innovative audio systems in the form of PRDs, including use cases, functional and performance test benchmarks.Decompose requirements to determine industry standards and compliance to ensure that specifications are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.Drive reuse: lead the development of reusable internal requirements, identifying synergies and opportunities for design reuse.

Verification and Validation:

Scope and develop test plans to verify and validate audio system requirements.Collaborate with the program management, testing, quality, reliability and compliance teams to identify and resolve issues.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in audio technology.Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.Be the Voice of Customers to provide feedback to project and platform engineering teams on lessons learned and any improvements needed for future projects.

What You NeedBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, Acoustics, or a related field.Proven experience in requirements engineering, system design, and audio technology with proficiency in requirements management tools and software.Strong understanding of audio system components, including microphones, transducers, amplifiers, and digital signal processing (DSP) hardware and software; as well as audio testing and measurement techniques.Working knowledge of communication protocols (i.e. USB, Bluetooth, WiFi, I2S, SPDIF, I2C, SPI, UART), as well as audio codecs, streaming protocols, and audio file formats.Excellent analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills.Strong communication and collaboration skills, including customer-facing sales, as well as highly technical discussions.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What is Nice to HaveMaster's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, Acoustics, or a related field.Overall 10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years of technical management.Demonstrated business acumen with ability to engage with partners, whether customers or vendors at strategic level.Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
