Christchurch Anglican in Montgomery, Alabama, seeks a full-time clergyman to join our vibrant and active parish as an Associate Rector. This position is designed for a male transitional deacon or priest, but postulants or those nearing postulancy for holy orders may also be considered.

Christchurch was founded in 2005 and has since grown to over 700 members on a campus of over 36 acres in a growing area of Montgomery. We have a full-time Rector, two part-time priests, two vocational deacons, and a staff of over 20 (including two paid Assistant Student Ministers) serving a multi-generational church family in the proclamation of the faith delivered once for all to the saints.

This position is intended to shape a clergyman both for ministry within Christchurch and within the broader ACNA. A passion and energy to share the gospel is the essential qualification, as this Associate Rector will teach, preach, and provide pastoral care across all age groups. Over the time this Associate Rector serves at Christchurch, leadership of various ministries (adult formation, pastoral care, missions, etc.) will be assigned. Upon hire, the first area of direct ministry headship will be over our ministries to students and their families.

This position is full-time with full benefits, including family health care, pension, and more. Salary will be commensurate with experience and family circumstances.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Prayerfully seek the Lord for His vision for our church

Celebrate, preach, and assist at the altar

Annually produce and faithfully manage a ministry-area budget

Attend and lead, as requested by the Rector, staff and vestry meetings, diocesan events, and other such activities in order to mature as a future leader within the ACNA

INITIAL FOCUS AREAS

Supervise and empower two paid Assistant Student Ministers and numerous volunteers

High School Ministry – Plan and lead programming, including Sunday morning Sunday School, Sunday afternoon large group gatherings, Spring Confirmation classes for 9th graders, and student small groups

Middle School Ministry – Plan and lead programming, including Sunday morning Sunday School and Wednesday night large group gatherings

Regular Discipleship of Students – Engage or supervise regular on and off-campus discipleship of students

Special Events – Oversee service projects, mission trips, and retreats

Communication to Parents, Students, and Community – Develop and maintain a consistent method for communication to parents, students, and the community
