Job Summary: The Associate Director of Campus Recreation serves in a leadership role for and supports the activities, programs and mission of the Northeastern Illinois University Campus Recreation department. The Associate Director acts as the content and programming expert for Campus Recreation activities, fitness programming, intramural & club sports programs, and associated functions – leading the development of best practices and optimized usage of spaces through active leadership and strategic planning in coordination with University goals. The Associate Director oversees several full-time employees and Graduate Assistants, and provides goals and directives for student staff managers. This position also manages rental contracts and associated relationships and planning with outside organizations for use of NEIU recreational and sports facilities.
Job Description:
Acts as the primary point-of-contact for day-to-day departmental activities and leads efforts to improve, develop and refine programs, facilities and training.
Develops procedures and policies for Campus Recreation activities and programs in accordance to university initiatives and industry best practices.
Oversees daily activities in the recreation facility and athletic fields and provides leadership in addressing building and staffing issues.
Plans and develops contractual details, schedules, and billing for external space rentals and facility usage.
Develops and plans revenue and non-revenue generating activities to grow programming offerings and community engagement.
Manages master yearly and weekly schedules to ensure optimized use of space and meet strategic goals.
Manages Campus Recreation full-time staff and provides regular coaching, feedback and development of staff.
Monitors budgets throughout the fiscal year and oversees departmental purchasing of commodities, supplies, and athletic equipment.
Assists Executive Director with major projects, university initiatives and future planning.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications:
Masters degree (or higher) in the areas of Physical Education, Recreation, Exercise Sciences, or related majors required.
5+ years of management experience within the fields of recreation management, sport and exercise facilities operations, and/or health & wellness programs.

Salary: $72,000
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision benefits, sick and vacation days, and participation in the State Universities Retirement System. This is a full-time, continuing position.
