The department represents over 85 faculty FTE, 55 Researchers and Specialists, 150 post-doctoral researchers, 220 graduate students, and 80 department staff members. The department has 1,800 declared undergraduate majors.Position SummaryResponsible for the daily operation and managing all administrative and technical aspects of the MCB DNA Sequencing Facility which supports research by providing various sequencing and analysis services.Application Review DateThe First Review Date for this job is: Monday, July 29, 2024ResponsibilitiesConsult with researchers to help with experimental design, technical issues, and troubleshooting.Establish new genotyping and sequencing protocols for customer specific projects.Prepare genomic extracts for use with Geneprint 10 PCR assay and analyze STR data.Assist in customized genomic DNA preparations from various sources.Optimize extraction conditions for cells with complex extracellular matrices.Test and develop new protocols to streamline sample processing.Perform weekly re-start of four 3730XL DNA Analyzers and three Beckman Coulter Biomek liquid handlers.Supervise and manage technical staff and undergraduate laboratory assistants.Conduct original research in the development of novel DNA polymerases.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Advanced knowledge of specialized laboratory equipment.Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships.Solid knowledge of data acquisition and analysis techniques.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree and/or equivalent experience.Salary & BenefitsThe budgeted salary range for this position is $80,400.00 - $145,400.00.How to ApplyTo apply, please submit your resume and cover letter.Diversity StatementPlease include a brief statement on your contributions to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in your professional experience.Other InformationThis is not a visa opportunity.
