Data Architect – Snowflake & SQL Server FocusChicago, IL – Hybrid schedule: 1-2 days onsite, 3-4 days remote
SummaryThis position is responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing the data platforms. This position plays an integral role in the maintenance, support, and enhancements of custom and 3rd party, business critical applications, databases, and data integration processes. The role establishes architectural standards for SQL Server and Snowflake data warehouse environments and dependent data flows. This role shares operational support of data platforms with DBAs and provides subject matter expertise for data structure, storage, and movement to various projects.What you'll be doing
Direct and oversee the architecture and development of data systems to meet application and reporting requirementsSupport highly-available relational database and cloud data warehouse technologiesMonitor database systems, optimize database query performance, and ensure data security and durabilityDocument, refine, and standardize data pipelines from core application to downstream systems to meet integration specificationsMaintain metadata repositories and data diagrams to meet data governance standardsReview and establish best practices and processes for database object creation, deployment, and change controlEnsure data systems are secure by designTroubleshooting, fault analysis, and issue resolutionImplementation and maintenance of high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as SQL Server replication, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and Log ShippingInvestigate and resolve reported application issues, escalating issues as necessary to application ownersProvide On-Call support on a rotating basis which requires the flexibility to work off hoursSkills we're seeking
7+ years of experience with Database/DW Engineering2+ years of experience with Database/DW ArchitectureMust have strong SQL Server experienceMust have at least some Snowflake experience – more the betterNice to have experience
Data architecture experience in Azure environments – ideally hybrid cloud environmentsData governance and data security experienceExperience architecting or leading data transformation projects
