General Summary of Position

Professional care provider who assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of patients from admission through discharge. In collaboration with the patient and family, provides theory-based professional nursing care and coordinates care delivery with various members of the interdisciplinary team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, safety standards, and MedStar SPIRIT Values. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Confidently provides nursing care in a holistic manner.Recognizes and demonstrates a proactive ability to assess for impending changes in patient's condition to make meaningful conclusions.Incorporates evidence-based practice and research in daily activities with a focus on quality and safety.Effectively uses pattern recognition and resolution skills, focusing on the clinical scenario to resolve the apparent concern. Follows the chain of command by consulting with other healthcare professionals and seeks assistance as needed.Exhibits strength and moral agency as a patient advocate in ethical decision making. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.Practices within legal boundaries of the nurse practice act and possesses a theoretical understanding of the universal ethical principles. Escalates ethical discourse in practice and seeks other resources in advocacy for support and counsel.Sets priorities easily and readily anticipates patient and family needs.Recognizes the relevance of the current situation and organizes a skilled response to rapidly changing conditions. Demonstrates flexible thinking and addresses need to shift focus and priorities.Begins to synthesize clinical data to evaluate clinical outcomes.Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. Minimum Qualifications

EducationAssociate's degree from an accredited School of Nursing required.Bachelor's degree in Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred.

Experience1-2 years of RN experience at a MedStar entity required.

Licenses and CertificationsCurrent RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required.Certification in Basic Life Support required.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesVerbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills required.

This position has a hiring range of $38.00 - $63.30.
