A law firm in Baltimore, MD is seeking an experienced Energy and Environmental Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of legal experience with significant expertise in energy and environmental law, including working with public utility commissions and handling renewable energy permitting. This role involves substantial client interaction, strong communication skills, creative problem-solving, and business development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to serve in a first chair capacity on a variety of matters.Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee energy and environmental legal matters, including renewable energy facility permitting and public utility issues such as rate cases.Provide strategic legal counsel on environmental permitting, environmental enforcement actions, and environmental due diligence.Represent clients in litigation and regulatory proceedings before the Maryland Public Service Commission, other public utility commissions, or FERC.Engage in significant client interaction, ensuring high-quality service and effective communication.Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and regulatory filings.Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategies and client advice.Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and service.Contribute to business development efforts, including generating new client opportunities and expanding the firm’s client base.Serve in a first chair capacity on a wide range of matters, providing leadership and strategic oversight.Requirements:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Barred in Maryland.Minimum of 10 years of legal experience with significant experience practicing before the Maryland Public Service Commission, other public utility commissions, or FERC.Preferred experience in litigation related to renewable energy facilities and/or public utility matters.Additional experience with environmental permitting, enforcement actions, and due diligence is a plus.Skills:

Strong oral and written communication skills.Advanced problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking.Proficiency in legal research, writing, and case management.Ability to manage complex cases and regulatory matters.Aptitude for business development and client relationship management.Experience in leading and managing legal teams and matters.Education and Certifications:

JD degree from an accredited law school.Active membership in the Maryland State Bar.
