Overview
QP Training (D973) is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Instructor to support needs for the Training School. This position will report to the Chief of Operations Training / Training Supervisor and play an integral role in the training and qualification of students requiring initial and refresher training at Quonset Point. While this individual will teach within their trade, they will also support course work outside their trade discipline specifically, respirator, fall protection, safety & fire related, nuclear and other general training courses as required.This instructor position will be part of a team, responsible for the training of students at QP. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedure Compliance, be a self-starter, the ability to work independently and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor and a desire to teach.Responsibilities & Duties -
The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:Instructing multiple courses in a variety of topics including all pipefitting related, fall protection, respirator, tank watch and other general training courses
Directing and assessing hands on training with mockups and related exercisesEnforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate auditsAssessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documentsSupporting various course content reviews and related activitiesConducting assessments as scheduledMeeting with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as neededConsistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topicsCommunicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issuesSupporting special training projects as requiredSupport the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assignedInternal candidates must be from organizations outside of Groton Operations (Casciano)
Work Schedule
- The selected candidate will be need to be flexible to support training on 2nd & 3rd shifts. Shift assignment will be based on business need.Ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends)Qualifications
Required:Possess a High school diploma (minimum)Have a minimum of 2 years of pipefitting experienceHave a minimum of 2 years of Electric Boat experienceMust be able to climb a ladder and don a Safety Harness as requiredMust be able to travel throughout the facility to facilitate training as requiredThe selected candidate will be need to be flexible to support training on all shifts. Shift assignment will be based on business need.Must possess the ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends)
Preferred:Prior experience teachingNuclear trade experienceAssociates Degree

Have a strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex tasks and projectsDemonstrate an ability to problem solveHave a strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom environmentHave excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skillsHave experience with Microsoft Office SuiteBe comfortable working in a fast-paced environmentHave a demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedure complianceHave a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as neededHave a willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of leaning abilities
