Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and ambitious Business Analyst with extensive experience in Capital Markets domains with primary focus in the areas of Issuances, Valuation, Settlement, Accounting, Liquidity management as well as knowledge of external ratings of securities and financial counterparts.

Knowledge Required and Selection Criteria:

  • The nature of this function demands that it be led by a Business Analyst with keen business analytic ability to ensure that opportunities are seized to optimize efficiency, effectiveness (elimination of redundant tasks), and outstanding communication skills. This requires that the candidate have: (i) excellent knowledge of capital markets business; (ii) up-to-date, best practice experience with SDLC; (iii) a robust, cross-functional perspective to be able to bridge the business to information technology gap; and (iv) a perceptive and diplomatic ability to prioritize requirements.
  • The candidate must possess a good control of changing corporate objectives in a dynamic marketplace. Moreover, the candidate must exhibit a clear comprehension and appreciation for the postulates and practice of IT Governance.
  • Candidate must have a deep understanding and experience with Project Management and its many facets.
  • In-depth understanding of:
  • External and Internal Ratings
  • Front & Back Office Business Processes
  • Reporting & Downstream Datamarts
  • Market Data
  • Plain Vanilla & Structured Instruments (Bonds & Swaps with Complex Payouts/Optionality)
  • Trade Lifecycle
    • Trade Capture (Pega, MarkitWire)
    • Settlement & Settlement Messaging (SWIFT)
    • Accounting (In-House Subledger)
  • Treasury & Capital Markets (Fixed-Income & derivatives)
  • Risk management more specifically Liquidity risk
  • Loans products including IDA products and processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

The position demands substantial experience in Risk management domain within a globally distributed enterprise. In addition, the candidate is required to have:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Finance, MBA or related field, 8+ years of professional experience in Capital markets domain.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Solid experience as a Business Analyst
  • Be adept at presenting agreed concepts to senior audiences and ensuring that the business architecture definitions are clear, and signed off, with any assumptions or dependencies clearly identified and mitigated.
  • Teamwork and Consensus Building: As a multinational, multicultural institution, success at the World Bank requires the ability to negotiate and facilitate trade-offs and build consensus and commitment to a recommended direction among multiple stakeholders, with broadly divergent frames of reference.   • Personal Integrity & Effectiveness: Highest personal and professional integrity as demonstrated through strong personal values, as well as consistent words and actions. Build and sustain strong collegial working relationships, and be comfortable approaching others assertively, responsibly and supportively.
  • Proven conceptual, analytical and judgmental skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and SQL is required.
  • Excellent personal organization skills and ability to take things to closure without follow-ups.

Ideal (additional qualifications)

  • CFA candidate or degree in Risk Management.
  • Strong Organizational Skills and Business Judgment: Ability to distinguish between what is and is not critical, and to balance on both strategic and short-term issues. A track record of delivering results under stressful timetables.
  • Strategic Vision: Must have a track record of understanding and translating client's business needs into a coherent IT vision with deliverables.
  • Desirable knowledge of VBA, PL/SQL, and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI.
  • Knowledge of a Capital Markets trading system (such as Murex or Summit).
  • Knowledge and experience in the area of Project Management.
