Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity and find security in their lives.

Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing and education services. Rosie's Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding.

OPPORTUNITY

Rosie's Place is looking for a Triage Advocate/Inventory Associate to join our Advocacy team. Advocates provide key assistance to Rosie's Place guests while supporting and validating their sense of self-worth and responsibility. In this role, the Triage Advocate/Inventory Associate facilitates guest entry into Rosie's Place when seeking Advocacy services and spends part of their time doing inventory management of essential needs for guests, such as clothing and toiletries. This critical role supports our goal of ensuring that guests are treated with dignity and respect by having access to essential items. Triage Advocates effectively communicate with their team members to ensure that guests receive the necessary resources in a timely manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet guests who enter the Advocacy waiting area and assist with identifying which supportive services are needed.Regularly communicate with other Advocates and Advocacy Management team and update them about the status of guests who are waiting to receive services.Provide information and referrals to services offered on-site, by both Rosie's Place programs and other allied partners, including referrals to outside agencies and government programs.Maintain an up-to-date understanding of community resources as well as current regulations and requirements for obtaining public benefits, housing and other services.Maintain accurate guest records in Salesforce, our guest database. Ensure confidentiality when handling all aspects of guests' information.Participate in weekly supervision, program meetings, and monthly staff meetings.Intervene in guests' crises and emergencies in a dignified and respectful manner as needed.Open and sort donations of clothing and miscellaneous items; assess items according to need and condition.Check and maintain inventory of clothing room, order and purchase items if needed.Keep clothing room neat, organized, and well-stocked.Manage and facilitate the annual beach trip for guests.Manage and facilitate bi-monthly giveaways.Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Advocacy Management team.Requirements

Bilingual abilities in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, or Cape Verdean Creole in addition to English are a plus.Strong commitment to social justice and the mission of Rosie's Place.2 years of experience in counseling, case management, or advocacy preferred.Experience with crisis intervention with people who have experienced trauma, homelessness, mental health challenges, and/or substance use disorders.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and think quickly on your feet.Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well and effectively communicate with other department employees.Strong customer service mindset with effective and diplomatic, yet supportive communication style.Dependable, flexible and able to work effectively in a collaborative and busy department.Be physically able to safely lift 25lbs, reach, bend and stoop.Proficient computer literacy, including the ability to quickly learn new systems and applications.

WORK EXPECTATIONS

We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Advocate is expected to work onsite at Rosie's Place during their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests, and volunteers.

We continue to adapt to safety protocols related to COVID-19 as we understand them, and all employees must follow our safety protocols. Among these protocols, we require all employees to be up to date with their COVID vaccinations. Requests for medical or religious exemptions from the COVID vaccination are considered.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The starting salary range for this position is $52,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience.
