Rosie’s Place was founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunities, and find security in their lives.

Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. Rosie’s Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding.

OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Senior Director of Opportunity Programs will provide overall strategic direction and leadership to the Women’s Education Center and further enhance our Workforce Development program. They will oversee and manage all areas and personnel within the programs as well as develop and monitor systems for effective education and workforce services. The Senior Director will lead the budget development process and be heavily involved in monitoring spending within the two different program budgets. They will ensure that all services within these programs are provided in line with the core values and mission of Rosie’s Place.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Strategic and Programmatic:

Establish and oversee streamlined service delivery that is efficient and systematic, while ensuring that all services are provided in a manner consistent with our core values and mission.

Grow education services, to include weekend and evening opportunities for guests.

Develop and implement a new Workforce Development program.

Work in partnership with senior leadership to detect gaps in Rosie’s Place services. Identify new providers or services for guests to address those gaps creatively.

Assist with implementing and evaluating new models of service delivery to meet the changing needs of the guests.

Help managers identify and set program goals, and report on their progress. Identify ways to measure the success of their programs and use data to track progress on goals.

Ensure that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are values that are being practiced throughout all Opportunity programs.

Annually negotiate, assess, and implement contracted service providers as needed.

Administrative Leadership & Team Management:

Direct, supervise, and evaluate management staff following Rosie’s Place supervision procedures. This includes regular, formal, individual supervision, as well as group meetings and yearly evaluations.

Ensure that all staff within those programs receive regular supervision and evaluation of their work performance from their managers.

Provide reliable guidance and leadership to the Education and Workforce Development program managers.

Develop and monitor the Women’s Education Center budget. Develop and create a Workforce Development program budget and create guidelines for spending. Work with program managers to allocate spending according to the guidelines established.

Ensure that managers receive appropriate training; develop a personalized training program for each program manager. Help managers identify areas of growth for their employees and identify training programs to strengthen their skills.

Responsible for ensuring the Women’s Education Center and Workforce Development teams are adequately staffed.

Fulfill responsibilities as a member of the Management Team, including participation at appropriate meetings and demonstrating top leadership to all of Rosie’s Place.

Ensure that all members of the advocacy programs are following organizational procedures and policies.

Represent Rosie’s Place to the larger community while demonstrating our core values and supporting our mission.

Any other duties as assigned by the Chief Program Officer.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, with ten years of human service experience, including five years in supervisory roles.

Proven ability to develop and implement new programs.

Strong commitment to social justice and Rosie’s Place’s mission.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service and effective, diplomatic leadership.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail and follow-through.

Demonstrated ability to welcome, train, motivate and manage a diversity of people from various backgrounds including both paid staff and volunteers.

Experience in operational and strategic planning, database management, budget development, and managing ESOL and Workforce programs.

We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Senior Director of Opportunity Programs is an exempt position and is expected to work onsite at Rosie’s Place during their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests and volunteers.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The starting salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience.
