Mortenson has been voted a "best place to work" over 40 times since 2002......What are you waiting for?!Summary:Mortenson's Minneapolis Operating Group is currently seeking a passionate Senior Safety Engineer I to implement Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites throughout the Midwest. The Safety Engineer will ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. This individual will be required to travel/relocate to various project sites for the duration of projects.Responsibilities:Implement and administer safety program at each worksite for team membersAssist project management team in developing site-specific safety program and activitiesFormulate, coordinate and conduct safety orientation and training programsDocument and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.Conduct safety work area auditsConduct project's loss control data/document collection and trend analysesAssist with major incident analysisRecord, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury and Hazard statisticsLead OSHA reporting and posting requirementsMonitor and review subcontractor activities for safety concernsReview Safety Submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with subcontractorsLead Return to Work and Modified duty assignmentsProvide resource of safety-related informationEvaluate and offer solutions for industrial hygiene concernsMaintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards and proceduresServe as resource for safety issues or concerns for all project team members/managementAttend and/or chair safety meetingsOther duties as assignedWork with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, etc.Accompany safety, health, insurance and OSHA personnel on work-site toursEnsure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and protective wearEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsHow you will succeed:Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksAbility to work in Microsoft Office and pertinent safety-related software programsShown positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesActive listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedbackAbility to travelEducation and experience:Bachelor's degree in field of safety, occupational health or equivalentMinimum of four years of construction safety experienceIf no Bachelor's degree, high school diploma, CHST Certification, OSHA 500 and minimum of 10 years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting/reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant fieldCurrent valid driver's licenseTravel 100% of the time is requiredMortenson is an EOE/Affirmative Action/M/F/Veteran/Disabled employer.Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
