You will play a key role in managing and prosecuting our patent portfolio, ensuring the protection of our innovations and support our strategic business objectives.The PersonYou are an analytical problem-solver who makes sound judgements and recommendations and understands when it is appropriate to escalate issues. You are a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You have the ability to work with various individuals to achieve a common goal while taking into consideration both legal and business issues. You enjoy learning about cutting-edge technologies.Key Responsibilities:Manage and prosecute a diverse portfolio of patents, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications domestically and internationally.Work closely with engineering teams to understand technologies and harvest strategic inventions.Provide training and education to internal teams on IP issues and patent filing processes.Develop a deep understanding of AMD's technologies.Advise and educate the company on complex IP legal issues.Provide guidance on patent-related matters, including patentability assessments, IP strategy, portfolio management, and enforcement.Assist in IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.Preferred Experience:Strong experience, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications in hardware and software technologies, such as semiconductor technologies, digital circuitry, processors, memory solutions, artificial intelligence/machine learning, wired/wireless communication, and other hardware/software solutions and platforms.Experience in computer and semiconductor industry is a plus.Experience with foreign patents and applications, IP analysis, IP strategy, validity, infringement desirable.High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.Academic Credentials:BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or related fields.Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with admission to a state bar.Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Location:San Jose, CA (Austin, TX considered)Hybrid - 3 days a week onsiteNo Relocation assistance offered.
