Job purpose

The Branch Manager position has the overall responsibility for the daily branch operations and supervision of branch staff. This position ensures that the branch adheres to all applicable compliance and standard operational processes and procedures.

Duties and responsibilities

The Branch Manager provides overall guidance of personnel activities to ensure solid team efforts toward the attainment of branch and credit union goals.

Supervises branch staff within the following tasks:

Hiring

Training

Scheduling

Motivating

Evaluating

Retaining

Performance

Follows prescribed performance coaching processes and performance documentation as set forth by management.

Leads the team to deliver expected service behaviors and results.

Schedules according to forecasts, using available scheduling tools and following scheduling expectations.

Maintains a functional level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all credit union products and services.

Listens to and reports feedback from members to management to create efficiencies, and to suggest new products and services.

Leads team to perform required operational and risk control processes and inspections.

Ultimately responsible for protecting our members, employees and credit union and is charged with looking for and appropriately mitigating risk beyond the required processes.

Interacts frequently with employees and members throughout the day; provides staff members a positive, professional role model of member service and sales through personal example.

Represents the credit union and provides leadership in key community activities including business, charitable, civic, and social organizations.

Promotes positive collaboration between all personnel and departments supported through personal example.

Ensures adherence to credit union policies and procedures and all applicable branch compliance, monitoring, safety, and security.

Monitors branch activity, including number of transactions, volume, teller errors, loan volume, teller and loan personal sales and new accounts.

Assists in creating and tracking goals for branch personnel.

Fosters an environment of “friendly competition” amongst branch staff, discussing successes and areas of opportunity to assist in attaining goals.

Conducts loan interviews. Processes, approves and/or closes loans within stated authority.

Ensures all Branch operations functions are completed:

Branch Audits

Branch Operations

Daily log completion

BSA/CTR/SAR Functions as needed

Daily Cash Operations

Assists staff or members in solving complex account problems.

Creates and maintains a cross-selling environment within the branch.

Assures appropriate currency levels are maintained within policy limits for both vault and teller drawers.

Additional tasks and duties may be required within the realm of authority related to this position. May perform Teller and/or Member Service functions as needed.

Qualifications

Ability to coach, teach and hold staff accountable to behavior and process expectations.

Ability to inspire and successfully lead teams through change.

Thorough knowledge of branch operations and the ability to coordinate the daily functioning of the facility, and to resolve employee and member problems.

Interpersonal skills necessary to represent the credit union in a professional, friendly, business-like manner.

Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees, and to maintain an effective schedule of work flow within the branch.

Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in interpreting policies and procedures, making exceptions as required.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to make decisions, take action, and accept responsibility for results.

Working conditions

All work is conducted in a climate-controlled office environment with exposure to basic office equipment and typical moderate office noise.
