$86,320.00 ANNUALLY.The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Disease Research Scientist. Employees in this job class perform a wide variety of tests in a laboratory to research communicable diseases in animals; and perform a variety of routine tests.

Hiring Timeline & Dates

Job Offer and Background Process begins in October 2024. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.If you are not selected for this interview process, you may have the opportunity to compete for future vacancies.Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in biology, chemistry, or in one of the life sciences;

AND ,One (1) year of full-time experience, preferably within the last three (3) years, as a Disease Research Scientist performing a wide variety of laboratory tests. Experience must have been in an approved veterinary diagnostic laboratory, research laboratory, and pharmaceutical or biotech laboratory.Note:

Completion of appropriate course work from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.Condition of Employment
