Position Overview:
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Events Project Manager
to serve as the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) for a series of high-profile events commemorating the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. This role involves overseeing the planning, execution, and promotion of various large scale celebratory activities, ensuring they reflect the Marine Corps' values and achieve strategic communication objectives. Events will include two national events, one being Superbowl 2025, and up to nine significant state level events. This role will be onsite daily at the Pentagon during normal duty hours 0730 - 1630 ET Monday through Friday. Travel to all events for location scouting, preparation and set-up and full event support is required with the team.

Key Responsibilities: Event Planning and Management:
Lead the planning and execution of multiple high-profile events celebrating the USMC 250th birthday, including ceremonies, parades, receptions, and public outreach programs. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations, ensuring all events are executed on schedule and within budget.
Coordination and Liaison:
Act as the primary point of contact between the Marine Corps and external stakeholders, including media, government agencies, and community organizations. Coordinate with various departments, units, and external partners to ensure seamless integration and execution of event plans.
Communication and Media Relations:
Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, event invitations, and promotional materials to enhance public awareness and engagement. Manage media relations, including organizing press conferences, handling media inquiries, and ensuring accurate and timely coverage of events.
Content Creation:
Write speeches, talking points, and other communication materials for senior Marine Corps officials and speakers at events. Oversee the creation of digital content, including social media posts, website updates, and multimedia presentations.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and lead event planning staff and volunteers, providing guidance and support throughout the planning and execution phases. Foster a collaborative team environment, ensuring all members are aligned with the project’s goals and objectives.
Qualifications: Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification in public affairs is a plus. Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public affairs, multi-state event management, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing high-profile events. Clearance:
Must hold current and active Top Secret security clearance. Skills:
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in media relations and content creation. Proficiency in social media platforms, digital marketing, and multimedia production. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
Military Experience:
Prior service in the Marine Corps or other military branch is highly desirable. Reservists strongly encouraged to apply. Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel in support of all events noted. Must be able to maintain your Top Secret security clearance.
