IntroductionThis is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Land Acquisition and Planning. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.GRADE17LOCATION OF POSITION580 Taylor Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401Main Purpose of JobThis position administers the Greenspace Equity Program for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) under the Land Acquisition and Planning (LAP) unit. LAP works to advance land conservation and outdoor recreational opportunities in Maryland. The Greenspace Equity Program was established in 2023 through legislation to provide grants to eligible applicants for enhancing the public health and livability of overburdened and underserved communities by implementing projects to preserve, create, and improve public greenspace in overburdened and underserved communities.The main purpose of this position is to administer the Greenspace Equity Program. The functions include developing, reviewing, and evaluating grant applications, program policies and regulations, and other related materials, tracking and monitoring funded projects for compliance, and providing training and technical assistance to grant applicants and recipients. The position will also consult with the Greenspace Equity Advisory Board as part of program implementation. Additionally, this position will collaborate with and provide support for other LAP local grants programs, including Program Open Space Local, Community Parks and Playgrounds, and Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure. This position must work closely with other teams within LAP, various units within DNR, local government agencies, land trusts, nonprofits, and the general public.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work.Notes:Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONSApplicants not using a substitution to meet the minimum qualifications must have two (2) years of experience working for or with grant programs.
