EHR Services has partnered with Covaris, LLC to hire a Application Scientist - Sample Prep to join their team in Woburn, MA.
As Application Scientist - Sample Prep within the Solutions Omics Group at Covaris, you will play a pivotal role in both internal development and external support of all Omics solutions. Collaborating closely with engineering and R&D teams, you will assist in the development and optimization of cutting-edge solutions to meet the evolving needs of the life sciences and biotechnology industries. Externally, you will serve as a technical expert, supporting the sales team and assisting customers in implementing and adopting Covaris solutions. You will play a key role in addressing challenges primarily for proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics workflows. This interdisciplinary, multi-faceted position offers a high level of interactivity and responsibility in a growing company, and the opportunity to work as part of a strong international team. This position is ideal for an individual with proteomics expertise, excellent writing skills, and the drive to create a state-of-the-art process and culture.
Essential Responsibilities and Position-related Expectations:
The employee may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following essential responsibilities as determined by business necessity.
Planning, execution, and analysis of experiments to prove feasibility of new ideas and concepts.
Ownership of prototype testing and optimization in product development and commercialization efforts.
Generation of highly reproducible data, data analysis, and presentation of results and conclusions in the form of verification and validation reports.
Lead Covaris proteomics pre-/post-sales customer communications activities and customer training.
Experience with modern protein extraction methodologies from FFPE, cells, and tissues and analytical techniques such as BCA assay, Bradford assay, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, Western Blot, etc.
Responsible for maintaining and updating all protocols and working with marketing to upload on the website.
Troubleshooting for basic mechanical operation and application software.
Contribute to the pre-sales assessment of new applications for Covaris' AFA technology.
Work with the global sales team and support the sales team with presentations, demonstrations, customer site visits, and training activities.
Evaluation and performance optimization of different applications, instruments, and consumables for both internal stake holders and customers.

In addition to the essential responsibilities listed above, the employee may be required to perform other non-essential functions. Employees are required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by their supervisor.
Qualifications and Technical Skills :
M.Sc. in Physical-chemistry, Analytical Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. B.Sc. with relevant experience will be considered.
2+ years of hands-on experience in sample prep.
Critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be necessary, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and timelines.
Application and Technical Sales Support experience, including product/protocol development is desirable.
Understanding of applied statistics and familiarity with design of experiments.
Microsoft Office skills.
Must be detail oriented and highly motivated.
Proven ability to develop and deliver clear and concise scientific presentations. Industry experience is preferred.
Oral presentation and content creation with high-level technical writing skills
Ability to travel to customer sites and conferences up to 30%
Location:
Woburn, MA. This is a predominately on-site position with the ability to travel around 30%.
