The Payroll Specialist, Sr. is a crucial role responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely distribution of payroll to employees in multiple states. This role will contribute to the overall integrity of the payroll functions and data and will participate in frequent audits, including workers’ compensation, 401(k), state, federal, local taxes, SOX, and others to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and timeliness.ResponsibilitiesReview and verify payroll data for accuracy, including timekeeping records, deductions, and benefits.Process end-to-end multistate payroll processing for all employees.Ensure that all employees are paid accurately and on time.Remain up to date with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.Ensure compliance with all tax and payroll laws and reporting requirements.Review bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end federal, state, and local payroll tax returns as necessary.Generate and distribute payroll reports to relevant departments and management.Provide training and support to employees with using payroll and timekeeping systems.Participate in annual audits (i.e., workers’ compensation, 401(k), SOX, etc.).Prepare ad-hoc reports as requested for budgeting and financial analysis.Maintain accurate and organized payroll records.Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies or issues.Address and resolve employee inquiries related to payroll in a timely and professional manner.Prepare and distribute payroll-related employee communications.Recommend payroll process improvements to implement best practices and automation to increase payroll efficiencies.Collaborate with the Human Resources team on HRIS functions, data integrity, new hires, terminations, employee changes, and ad-hoc reporting.Assist manager with review and processing of global payroll processing, as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.Certified payroll professional (CPP) or similar is a plus.7+ years of multistate payroll experience using ADP/WFN.Knowledge of global payroll processing is a plus.Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.Excellent Excel skills.Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills.Operates with a high sense of urgency and problem-solving agility to resolve issues.Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Good interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Able to handle confidential information with discretion.Commitment to excellent attendance to ensure timely payroll processing.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Excellent math skills.
