POSITION SUMMARYThe Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing administrative tasks and providing support to the HR department in areas such as record-keeping, benefits administration, and general HR operations. The HR Generalist ensures compliance with policies and procedures, maintains accurate employee records, and assists in creating a positive employee experience. This role functions in support of three of our operating companies - Saltchuk Aviation Shared Services, Northern Air Cargo, and Northern Air Maintenance Services.DUTIESMaintain accurate electronic employee records and HR databases, including personal information, employment contracts, and performance evaluations.Update employee files and HR information systems with changes in job titles, salaries, promotions, and terminations.Assist in administering employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, bus passes, travel, and leave policies.Provide employees with information about benefits, eligibility, and enrollment procedures.Support the benefits enrollment process and liaise with benefits providers to resolve employee queries.Assist in the administration of annual benefits open enrollment - including communications, systems set-up, and procedures with vendors.Serve as Designated Employer Representative (DER) for our Drug & Alcohol testing program. Administer quarterly random testing, prepare Drug & Alcohol packets for FAA regulated employees, etc.Manage unemployment claim processing in partnership with Payroll Department.Generate HR reports and analyze data related to employee demographics, turnover, recruitment, and other HR metrics.Assist in preparing HR-related presentations, reports, and documents for management and other stakeholders.Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related inquiries, such as policies, procedures, and benefits.Assist with coordination of special events including vaccine clinics, holiday party, and annual employee milestone anniversary celebration.Leads projects and performs other duties as assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSEducationMinimum 4-5 years' experience in human resources with exposure to a variety of duties.ExperienceExperience with HRIS systems and their utilizing reporting capabilities.Experience managing benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), etc.Experience and or education in human resources, benefits, finance, or related field preferred.Undergraduate degree preferred.Human Resources certification preferred, such as PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or SHRM SCP.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Aviation industry experience preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of HRIS systems including the ability to learn a system quickly. Preferred experience with UKG Pro.Analytical skills and problem-solving ability.Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with a variety of focus areas.Analyzing benefit options and plan design as it relates to cost analysis, quality, and effect on employee populations.Organizational skills to manage the workload and accuracy is essential.Customer service, communication, and professional presentation skills.High proficiency in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.Must consistently protect sensitive health information and always maintain confidentiality.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work is classified as "light" with regards to the physical demands.Lifting requirements: Heavy boxes weighing 25 pounds, light office supplies, stacks of paper and computer printouts. Carts may be pushed loaded with office supplies and/or computer printouts that may weigh 10 to 15 pounds. Pulling will be required such as paper trays in copy machines, and file drawers.Climbing may be required up and down low step ladders, stooping is necessary for low file drawers and/or to retrieve supplies from the floor or under desks, kneeling and crouching may be required for filing.Reaching to the top of file cabinets or shelves is required; materials handled will consist of general office supplies and copy machine toner and ink. Fingering is required for pages in books, computer print outs, documents to be filed, keyboards on computers, typewriters, calculators, copy machines, fax machines, and telephones.Talking is required at least 50% of the day; use of talking on the phone at least 25% of the day. Reciprocal communication is required at least 75% of the day. Good vision is required to process reports, data input, read correspondence and proof-read documents and letters being sent out. Good hearing is required to communicate on the phone and while attending meetings.The job is an indoor job with normal room temperature free from excessive noise other than that of a copy machine and telephone.
