is seeking a

Director General Manufacturing 1

to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals to lead the Division Manufacturing team in support of all Manufacturing Operations for a restricted program.

This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

This position’s primary role will be to build and lead the common processes and tools in addition to providing the leadership and technical expertise in the Manufacturing Disciplines across the program. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of design, production and operating in a restricted access program environment, program management skills, proven strategic planning and business execution capabilities, as well as the ability to work collaboratively. The position will be a key leadership interface with all IPTs, IWO partners, Supplier Management leads and Customers in establishing the baseline program plans, validating the updates, follow-up and reporting. The selected individual must have experience leading a development program transition to a high-rate production program encompassing all the aspects of the rate readiness planning activities. In addition, the candidate should be able to interact and influence executive level management and communicate effectively with both oral and written presentations, which will include the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Work in partnership with the IPTs, Program Management Team and Program Leadership to define and enable execution of the Manufacturing statement of work in alignment with the customer SOW.

Responsible for leading the team consisting of the Manufacturing Managers, Technicians, Tooling, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Master Production Scheduling, Manufacturing Simulations, Manufacturing Execution Systems and Operations Program Management disciplines.

Lead and direct manufacturing working groups charter with internal and customer stakeholders.

Establish Manufacturing Community of Practice (COP) leveraging the best-in-class industry knowledge base.

Support / Drive the Sector Manufacturing Technology automation strategy and ability to produce initiatives across the NGC and supplier base.

Key member of the program leadership team to help create the alignment with the division manufacturing strategy.

Responsible for oversight of the end-to-end product scheduling including first articles, planning, build sequence planning, rate build-up plans and rate readiness assessments.

Directs, leads and manages all aspects of technical, cost and schedule performance.

Manages budgets and EAC for the organization including the EVMS support.

Maintain open communications with all Enterprise functions including Engineering, Quality, GSC, Logistics, Engineering Services and Integrated Product Teams (IPT's).

Development and execution of long-range plans and strategies while providing the most effective resources by skill sets to the program.

Outline specific objectives and processes that are focused on generating innovative solutions to moderately complex business problems.

The candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, can multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of Customer, NGC, and Supplier employees and leadership.

Hire and develop diverse skilled employees, establish the mentorship and coaching culture including growing and strengthening the leadership bench.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree AND 10+ years’ experience in a manufacturing operations environment OR a Master’s degree AND 8+ years’ experience in a manufacturing operations environment OR 18+ years’ experience in a manufacturing operations environment in lieu of a degree.

Must have 5+ years of management or leadership experience.

Ability to create and present professional PowerPoint presentations to executive leadership.

Must have an active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access prior to commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).

Expert level proficiency with oral and written communication skills.

Ability to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.

Able to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result.

Salary Range:

$157,500 - $236,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
