POSITION SUMMARY

About the Position

The NAACP is seeking a

Director, Donor Experience (DDE).

Director, Donor Experience plays a key role in curating and executing innovative approaches to meaningful engagement with donors, enhancing stewardship, and driving philanthropic outcomes. The role is responsible for engaging current and past donors and upgrading gifts given by donors and supporters of the NAACP. The candidate is critical to ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of the organization by effectively stewarding and engaging donors.

The DDE will report to the VP, Individual Giving and will be responsible for successfully managing an active donor list. The role will be responsible for stewarding and upgrading a portfolio of annual giving prospects and donors at all levels.

The ideal hire is a forward-thinking, innovative and energetic professional with proven success in donor stewardship, capable of developing and orchestrating the implementation of a multi-year plan for advancement. The DDE is tasked with optimizing donor communications, leveraging data analytics for strategy refinement, and ensuring a cohesive approach to overall donor retention and engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Donor Cultivation: Develop and execute strategies to solicit existing donors, ensuring their continued support and engagement with the organization.Stewardship: Develop and implement stewardship plans to recognize and thank donors for their contributions. Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgement of donations, including personalized letters, emails, and other forms of recognition.Donor Engagement: Set a primary goal to develop deep relationships, gaining credibility and a personal affinity for the work being conducted. Work in conjunction with staff to understand and translate the value proposition of the NAACP’s work to external audiences.Donor Communications: Collaborate with the communications team to develop compelling and persuasive donor communications materials, including impact reports, newsletters, and fundraising appeals. Ensure consistent and effective messaging to donors.Fundraising Events: Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor cultivation events. Coordinate logistics and engage donors in these events.Donor Database Management: Oversee the management of the donor database (individuals), ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions, contributions, and preferences. Utilize the database to track donor engagement and inform stewardship strategies.Donor Research: Conduct research to identify potential major donors and funding opportunities. Utilize prospect research tools and techniques to gather information on potential donors and develop strategies for engagement. Maintain a database of key political contacts.Data and Analytics: Translate data into actionable insights for strategy refinement, including strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, and using solid strategic thinking.Project Management: Engage in multiple projects, with varying deadlines, scopes, and deliverables at any given time.All other duties, as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS

Educational/Professional Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or related roles.Knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices.Creative and innovative approach to donor relations, donor experience and stewardship, emphasizing personalization and impact.Ability to create a strong, positive initial impression, maintain a solid professional credibility, and cultivate lasting professional relationships.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders –Demonstrated experience in donor cultivation and stewardship.Proficiency in donor database management and fundraising software.Strong organizational and project management skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Commitment to the mission and values of the NAACP
