JOB SUMMARY Northeastern University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Move Logistics and Inventory Manager to join our Capital Projects team. This individual will play a crucial role in facilitating the logistics of moves across various projects within the university, coordinating the re-use of furniture and equipment, and advancing sustainability measures through efficient resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities: Move Logistics Management:
Collaborate with PREF Capital Projects and university stakeholders to plan and execute move logistics for projects across Northeastern University campuses. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless transitions during relocations. Develop and maintain comprehensive move plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and contingency measures.
Furniture and Equipment Coordination:
Work closely with the PREF Transportation team to facilitate the re-use of furniture and equipment between projects. Evaluate inventory levels and identify opportunities for re-distribution to optimize resource utilization. Manage the procurement and disposal process for furniture and equipment, adhering to university policies and sustainability guidelines.
Database Management:
Develop and maintain a centralized database to track furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) inventory. Implement efficient cataloging and tagging systems to streamline the distribution process. Regularly update the database with new acquisitions, transfers, and disposals to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with university constituents to assess furniture and equipment needs for various departments and initiatives. Facilitate the distribution of FF&E to university constituents in need, prioritizing equitable access and sustainability goals. Provide guidance and support to departments on best practices for furniture and equipment utilization and maintenance.
Sustainability Initiatives:
Identify opportunities to enhance sustainability measures within the move and furniture coordination process inclusive of finding in-need resources for FF&E in the local community in lieu of disposal. Implement strategies to reduce waste, promote recycling, and minimize environmental impact during moves and FF&E management. Collect data and generate reports to track sustainability metrics and measure progress towards established goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, facilities management, or a related field. In lieu of professional degree, (5) years of experience in move coordination in a Facilities and/or project management field. Proven experience in project management, logistics coordination, or facilities operations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with database management systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Commitment to sustainability principles and experience implementing eco-friendly practices preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES Assisting Capital Projects in move logistics on specific projects, including creating logistics plans, stakeholder management, and communication plans. Creation and management of a university database for FF&E across campuses that would aid in documenting resources, as well as proper reallocation as needed. Community and partnership outreach for reallocation of FF&E resources to in-need organizations.
