Stand out. Be proud. Be Inter-Con!Job Description:The Company is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join the Finance team. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the accounting, internal controls and financial reporting for all aspects of the company's employee benefit plans, including health insurance, vacation and leave accruals, retirement plans, union dues, and other benefits. This includes coordinating with Inter-Con's Contracts and Benefits Administration teams to provide accurate and timely recording and reporting to stakeholders and ensuring reporting compliance with regulations. This is a remote position reporting to the Assistant Controller.Expected Responsibilities:Prepare journal entries to record all benefit plan transactions, including vacation and sick leave accruals and usage.Analyze, reconcile and resolve issues related to all benefit GL accounts including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, vacation and sick leave accruals, and other benefits.Reconcile benefit plan subledgers data to the general ledger.Develop and monitor internal controls over the benefits administration process.Analyze benefit plan costs and trends, including vacation and sick leave usage patterns.Prepare reports for management on benefit plan activities, including vacation and sick leave accruals, usage and turnover.Coordinate with the Company's Contracts, Benefit Administration, and payroll team to understand any new or modified agreements.Provide support and explanations during financial and benefit audits.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting.Minimum 4 years of experience in benefits accounting, with experience in a unionized environment a plus.Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as applied to employee benefit plans, including vacation and sick leave accruals.Experience with large data sets and data analysis.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams throughout the organization.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.CPA is preferred but not required.Skills:Proficient in Microsoft Excel.Experience with ERP, accounting and payroll systems. Specific experience with our current systems; Salesforce, Certinia, Paycom is preferred but not required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Time management and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
