1 Felony Trial and 1 AppellateThe Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of Maryland is now accepting applications for (1) a trial lawyer with two or more years of criminal defense experience for our Baltimore office and (2) an appellate lawyer with two or more years of appellate litigation experience for our Greenbelt office.Trial Position:

The trial position requires outstanding legal research and writing skills as well as oral advocacy skills. Trial experience is preferred. This position will require representing clients from the pre-trial phase through the sentencing phase, as well as representing clients on allegations involving violation of supervised release.Appellate Position:

The appellate position also requires outstanding research and writing skills as well as oral advocacy skills. This position will involve a mix of work: trial support (involving research and writing on complex legal issues), direct appeals, federal habeas litigation, and special projects (involving matters such as the retroactive application of federal sentencing guidelines amendments).The Office of the Federal Public Defender operates under the authority of the Criminal Justice Act, 18 U.S.C., § 3006A, to provide representation to indigent defendants in federal criminal cases and related matters in the federal courts.Please submit your resume, a cover letter explaining your interest in federal criminal defense, and a writing sample to: James Wyda, Federal Public Defender, 100 S.
