Please read on...We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist II to assist in the identification and characterization of drug candidates for the treatment of human diseases. This is a lab-based scientific role, and this Senior Scientist should possess strong cell-based experimental skills to support ongoing research for drug discovery projects. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently and excel in a highly collaborative cross-functional team environment.Job Description

Effectively runs cell-based assays and/or takes opportunity to bring new techniques into lab.Practices efficient time management with focuses on deliverables and can effectively prioritize when designing/undertaking experimental plan.Support ongoing research projects.Prior work with extensive cell culture and cell-based assays, drug treatment, measurement of cell viability (for example: CTG, Incucyte assay) and data analysis.Experience designing and executing cell biology, and biochemistry experiments, such as cell line engineering (e.g., CRISPR, RNAi, target over-expression), western blotting, WES, Co-immunoprecipitation.Data analysis skills with a sound comprehension of statistical concepts (ex: analytic methods in GraphPad Prism, Excel).Self-motivated and data-driven team player with integrity and a positive attitude.Analyzes and communicates own results to department/project meetings.Broadens technical knowledge via departmental activities, literature reading and experiential learning.Influences within line function.Key member of drug discovery/technology/development project teams with regular accountability within the project for own area of expertise.Accountable for increasingly complex experiments; key contributor to the success of drug discovery, technology, and/or early development projects.Brings ideas from a concept or question to a decision in experimental design, based on previous observations.Qualifications:

BS with 4+ years of experience post-graduation or MS with 2+ years in cancer biology, immunology, pharmacology, cell biology or related discipline.Expertise in mammalian cell culture, plate-based cellular assays, immunoblotting, lentiviral infection, cellular transfection, and basic molecular biology techniques.Experience with medium and high-throughput screening is highly preferred.Experience with targeted protein degradation assay is a plus.Familiarity with automation instruments and multi-mode plate readers.Outstanding problem-solving and organization skills.Effective team player and strong individual contributor.Self-driven, flexible, pragmatic, and able to handle multiple tasks while delivering high quality data.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Location: San Diego, CA (onsite)Pay Rate: $50-$64/hourContract: 6+ monthsHealth, dental, vision, 401kWhy Novartis?766 million lives were touched by Novartis medicines in 2021, and while we’re proud of this, we know there is so much more we could do to help improve and extend people’s lives.
